BOXING.
MORRIS DEFEATS SCHRECK. By Telegraph—Press Association-Oonyrizht New York, March 29. At Oklahoma, Carl Morris, described as "The White Man's Hope," knocked out Schreck, of Cincinnati, in six rounds. Johnson recently declared that Carl Morris, tho new Oklahoma giant, was a fakir of the worst kind. "There were agents of Morris came to me,. and wanted me to arrange for my man, Walter Monahan, to lay down to Morris," says Johnson. "Why, Morris hasn't had "one fight that was on the' level." All of which, according to Morris, and the friends of Morris (says the "Referee"), is a sad deviation from tho truth, only they use more virile language in describing Johnson's alleged penchant for tampering with facts. ■ One of tho latest things told about the giant is that he served Uncle Sam as a soldier in tho Cuban war, and was not only a terror to the Spaniards, but to the bullies of his own regiment as well. One fellow '■ who claims to have swigged from tho same canteen as Carl tells how once in camp a comrade named Russell struck Morris "over the head with a club." Tho blow would have killed an ordinary man, but Morris just shool; his head, landed on Russell's jaw, and Russell spent about ten minutes gazing at imaginary rainbows and. listening to imaginary regimental bands. Mike Schreck was born in 18S0 at Cincinnati, and is a light heavy-weight of German-American nationality.
