- -6 ..';■■ .— ■ LOCAL COMMITTEE. The-local' committee .of the Festival of Empire sports movement met last evening- Mr. A. Marryatt. presided, and there were also present-Messrs'.'J. H. Pollock, R. W. M'Villy, A. W. Smith, G. S. Hill, —. Keesing, and'l3. Guise (hou. secretary). ■.'■,. A-letter was read from the secretary of the Australian Committee, slating that it had decided that each member of the team should wear" the word "Australasian," and in addition-a symbol of the State or Dominion which ho represented. The letter went on to refer to the question of the disposal of .'the Empire Cup, should the team' bo fortunate enough to win it, and the suggestion was made that competitions might bo held every year at which teams from Nov South Wales, Victoria, and New Zenia&l might compete, the cup . forming a perpetual trophy. Reference was also made to the rights of the Australasian Committee to deal finally with all'matters in connection with'the Australasian team, ■_ Mr. Hill ■ proposed, and. Mi'. Keesing eecpnded, a. motion to.defer consideration of; the letter until' a future meeting. An amendment w'as'proposed by Mr. Pollock that the chairman and Mr. M'Villy draw up a reply arid submit it to the committee .at next meeting. The amendment was hot seconded, and the motion on being put to the meeting was lost. Mr. M'Villy moved, and Mi\ Smith seconded, that a reply be sent stating that the committee agreed to the suggestion regarding the competitions for the cup if it be won by the" team, the whole of the conditions for»such competitions" to be agreed upon before the Festival of Eni-. piro sports.' This was carried. : It was reported that the funds now in view amounted! to X 213. The following donations are' acknowledged by the committee: King's Theatre, .£25 Is.;' New Zealand Rugby Union, £o ss. j Mr. L.. Cohen, AVanganui. ills.; Mr. W.
