THE MILITARY AREAS. BOUNDARIES AND STATIONS. I'or the information of the general 'public, (ho following particulars with reference to the area divisions of tho Wellington Military District, with the rcspectivo stations of the area group oßicers and area scrgeanls-major, is published in a special district order by. Colonel E. AV. C. Chaytor, Officer-Com-manding the district. " The Wellington military district, it is stated, comprises tho land district of Wellington, Hawke's Hay, and Taranaki, with Headquarters at Falmerston North, and is divided into four infantry battalion groups, each subdivided into tour areas, as follows:— Wellington Group, The Wellington area group consists of areas Nos. 17, 18, 19, and 20, and tho officer in charge is Lieutenant A. H. Rassam, whoso headquarters will be located at the Garrison Hall, Buckle Street, Wellington. Area No. 17, in charge of Area-Sergeant-Major F. H. Woodward, consists of the borough of Miramar and that part of the city of Wellington, to east and south of a line from Polhill Gully to Aro Street, hence by. Aro, Wordsworth, AVobb, Arthur, Buckle, and Ellice Streets, to the top of the plantation Reserve; hence northwards along crest of ridge to Boundary Road; hence east by Boundary Road to the sea. Area No. 18, in charge of Area-Sergeant-Major R. J. Davis, is bounded on tho south by area No. 17, on the cant and north-east by the borough of _ Karon, hence by the tramline, Gtenbowie Bead, Sydney, Charlotte, and Bunny Streets, to the sea. Area No. 10, in charge of Area-Sergeant-Major J. J. Corkhill, consists of that part of the city of Wellington north of Area No. 18, also the comity of Makara and that part of the county of the Hutt lying to tho west of the western watershed of the. Hutt River. The Area-Sergeants-Mnjor of Nos. ti, 18, and 10, will have their headquarters at the Garrison Hall, Buckle Street. Area No. 20, consisting of the county of ths Hutt. except that part to the west of the western watershed of tho -Hutt River, is in charge of Area-Sergeant-Major 51, L. Millett, with headquarters at the Drill Hall, Lower Hut. Manawatu Group. The Manawatu group consists of areas No. 21, 22, 2.1, and 21, in charge of Lieut. !■'. G. Hume-; headquarters, Drill Shed, Wanganui. Area No. 21, consisting of the counties of Wanganui (west of the Turakina River) and Waitotara (south of the l\ai Twi and nn east'and west line from it", through Pt. BSO, to the Wangan.u River), is in charge of Area-Sergt.-Major G. Walker; headquarters, Drill Shed, lUliganui. Area No. 22, consisting of the counties of Rangitikei, Wanganui (east of the Turakina River) and ICiwitea (N. of -10 dog. E. Long.), is in charge of Area-Sergt.-Major Brightliug; headquarters, Huiiterville. Area' No. 23, consisting of the counties of Kiwitea (S. of 10 deg. 13. Long.), Poliaugina, Oroua, and Manawatu (N. of and E. and W. line through Taikoria Hill) is in' charge of Area-Sergt.-Major •I. Morrison; headquarters, Drill Hail, Feilding. Area No.- 21, consisting of the counties of Kairanga, Manawatu (S. of and E. and W. lino through Tajkoria, Hill) and Ilorowhenua is in charge of Area-Sergi.-Major E. .C. Dovcy; .headquarters, Palmerston North'. East Coast Group. The East Coast group consists of Areas Nos.-25, 28, 27, and 28, in charge of Lieut. P. W.'Skelley; headquarters, Drill Hall, Napier. Area No. 25, consisting of the counties of Cook and those portions of the counties of Waiapu, Opotiki, Waikohu, Wliakatane, and Wairoa, (N.E. of a line from tho mouth of the Waiknra River to the point, where the N. boundary;, of the districts "strikes tho Te Hoe River), which aro included in tho Wellington district, is in charge of Area-Sergt.-Major J.'Bishop; headquarters, Drill Hall, Gisborne: ■" Area No. 2li, consisting of those"portions of the counties of Wairoa (S.W. of a lino fiom the mouth of tho AVaikare River to tho point where tho N. boundary of' the district strikes the Te Hoe River), Hawke's Bay, and East Taupo (E. of the Ivaimanawa Range), which are included in. tho Wellington district, is in charge of Area-Sergt.-Major J. W. Steel; headquarters, Drill Hall, Napier. Area No. 27, consisting of the counties of Waipawa, AVaipukurau, Patangata, Dannevirke, Weber, Woodville, Pahiatua, and Akttio, is in charge of Area-Sergt.-Major AV. T. Burr; headquarters, Drill Hall,. Dannevirke. Area No. 28, consisting of the.counties of Eketahuna, Mauriceville, Castlepoint, Masterton, Wairarapa South, and Fcatherston, is in charge of Area-Sergt.-Major T. M'Cristell; headquarters, Drill Hall, Masterton. Taranaki Group. The Taranaki group consists of Areas Nos. 2D, 30. 31, and 32. in charge of Lieut. F. H. Lampen; headquarter#. Stratford. ■ Area No. 29, consisting of tho counties of Egmont (north of a lino from Capo Egmont to the summit of Mount Egmont), Taranaki, and Clifton, is in charge of Area-Sergt.-Major O. E. Bond; headquarters, Drill Hull, New Plymouth. Area No. 30, consisting of the counties of Stratford, Elthain, and Whangamomona, is in charge of Area-Sergt.-Major J. T. Ballinger; headquarters, Stratford. Area No. .'ll, consisting of the counties of Egmont (south of a lino from Capo Egmont to tho summit of Mt. Egmont), AVaimate AVest, Han-era, Patea, and AVaitotarai north of the Kai Iwi River and an east .and west line from it, through Pt. 880 to the AVauganui River), is in charge of Area-Sergt.-Major C. S. Mahoney; headquarters. Drill Hall, Hawcra. Area No. 52, consisting of the counties of Ohura, and AVaimarino, and those portions of the counties of Waitonio, AVest Taupo and East Taupo (west of the fCnimanawa Range), which aro included in the Wellington district, is in charge of Area-S-ergt.'-Major H. Olney; headquarters, Drill Hall, Raetihi. Eor mounted regiments (rifle) the AVauganui area of tho Manawatu group will be attached to tho Taranaki group, and the Wellington group will he attached to tho Manawatu group. The boundaries selected for the areas are as far as possible "county boundaries," which are already known, and the county rolls can be utilised' for registration.
