SELECTED FOR BISLEY.
TWELVE REPRESENTATIVE RIFLEMEN. PERSONNEL OF TnE TEAM. The personnel of the New Zealand representative rifle learn which is to uphold the honour and credit of the Dominion at the National Rifle Association's Coronation Championship Meeting at Bisley, England, next July, has been announced by Colonel R. J. Collins, 1.5.0., Chief Executive Officer of the Dominion Rifle Association. The team is as follows: 1. Rifleman D. Roots, Kaponga Rifle Club. 2. Rifleman A. -Henderson, Sounds Rifle Club. 3. Sergt. H. L. Prank, Nelson Rifles. i. Capt. AV. S. King, Linwood Rifles. 5. Rifleman G. Halliday, Karori Rifle Club. 6. Trooper Marenzi, Eketahuua Mounted Rifles. 7. Sergt. James, Napier Rifles. 8. Bombardier Citing, Royal New Zca- , ' land Artillery. 9. Rifleman 1\ Needhaip, Linton Rifle Club. 10. Rifleman H. Cuthbertson, Tua Marina. 11. Pte. L. Lovcday, Woodville Rifles. 12. Pte. W. Cox, Victoria Rifles, Auckland.
The actual team required to represent New Zeuland in the Kolapore Cup match (won by the Dominion's team in 1901, but lost the following .year) is eight, so that the above team of twelve gives a margin of four emergency men in case of accidents. The selection is generally admitted to be an excellent one, and includes among its members all the virtues which a sound rifle team ought to possess. A comparison of the above list with that forecasted by "Echelon" in The Dominion' of Tuesday last, shows that the estimate of probabilities was, as to the first twelve names given, only two out. "The following list," it was hazarded,, "will not be very far out when 'the numbers go up':—l. Rifleman Roots, Kaponga; 2. Rifleman A. Henderson, .Sounds; 3. Sergeant Frank, Nelson; -1. Bombardier Cliing, E.N.Z.A.; 5. Rifleman 1\ Nwdhiun, Linton; G Private Loveday, Woodville; 7. Rifleman Winslade, Opaki; 8. Trooper Marenzi, Eketahuna; 9. Captain W. f<. Kin?, Linwood; 10. Rifleman A. M'Murray, Taradale; 11. Rifleman G. Halliday, Karori; 12. Sergt. V. James, Napier. .Adding jn Hav (Karori), Duthie (ChristcJiurcii), Cameron (Opaki), Craw (Linton), Williams (Ohnra), and, possibly, Cuthbertson (Tua Marina), and Cox (Auckland), this gives a field of nineteen good marksmen, with the .first twelve as an absolutely safe team." It will be seen that Cuthbertson and Cox, in ihc official list, took tho place of Winslude (Opaki) and M'llurray (Taradale). "Echelon's" "probabilities" Cuthbertson and Co:; were, however, considered to be in the running. Nothing doiinite has as yet been decided upon with respect to the command of the team, though it is very probable that should Mrs. Collins's health permit her to travel, Colonel Collins will be able to take charge. The team leaves here on May 4 next, by the Ruapehu, arriving in London on June 15. Should it bo found possible to arrange for the steamer to sail a few days earlier, on April 27, this will be done, thus enabling her passengers to reach London just in time to see the Coronation.
Rifleman Maclngan (Kaponua).- Rifleman Wjllouxhby (Gladstone),, aud Rifleman Hay (Karori) also propose to iuako.the trip on their own account, but .will, travel with tho team.
