OUR BUTTER IN ENGLAND.
GOVERNMEiVT, ADVERTISING . URGED. Writing in the "Standard of Empire," Mr. Georgo Gardser says"Colonial butters are not sold to tho public under their proper names, simply bccauso tho Governments in Australia and New Zealand havo failed to advertise tho splendid merits of their wares. It is almost impossible that private firms can spend money in advertising tho general merits of these products. They can at most only advertise tho particular brands which they handle; and these alter almost every season owing to tho keen competition amongst the importers. Moreover, such advertisements, oven when dono on a large scale, are looked upon by tho public as the exparto statements of interested dealers, and do not 'educate.' If you can persuado the Governments to advertise all over the country, prejudice would soon disappear,". '
