WELLINGTON PROFESSIONAL ORCHESTRA.
The third annual general meeting of tho Wellington Professional Orchestra was held in tho orchestra's room, Cuba Street, 011 Wednesday last. ■ Mr. W. M'Lcan (president) occupied tho chair. There was a largo attendance of members. Tho finances of the orchestra, aa shown in tho report for tho year ending February 28, are in a very satisfactory state, as compared with last year, tho balance-sheet showing a credit balance of £47 10s., and the music and plant' being valued at £70. Complimentary references to the great progress showii by tho orchestra during the last year were made by the chairman, who stated that they had demonstrated how by thrift and pprseveranco a debit balance could bo turned into a credit balance. Tho musical standard of works performed had also been gradually raised. The conductor (Mr. Herbert 131oy), in returning thanks for his re-election, acknowledged the great assistance gi\;en by the members of the orchestra during his period of conductorship. Tho following oflicers wero elected for the eilsuing year Conductor, Mr. Herbert Uloy; secretary, Mr. J. l'\ Woodward; treasurer, Mr. J. Rogon; committee, Messrs. H. Moschini, E. P. Drews, ]). Gillies, and H. .M'Cornish; ■ intsecretary, Mr. G. P. Avery; , ail, Mr. H.' Moschini; assistant lu. ail, Mr. T. T. Joy; Music Selection Committee, tho conductor and Messrs. Moschini and Gardiner.
