OBITUARY.
DISTINGUISHED CANADIAN JUDGE. By Telesrapli—Press Association—Copyriclit Ottawa, March 23. Mr; Justjco Girouard, of, tho Supremo Court of Canada, who was thrown from a sleigh recently, died on Wednesday. The late Mr. Justice Girouard was Senior Judge of tho Supremo Court of Canada, having been appointed to the Bench in 1805. He was born in tho Province of Quebec, in 183G, and after heiiiß educated at Montreal Collect, lie practised at tlia Montreal Bar from 1860 to 1595, "taking silk" in IS7C. From IS7B to 1895 ho was Conservative M.P. for Jacques Cartier; for fourteen years he was Chairman of the Committee of Privileges and Elections. On two occasions ho was offered a seat in the Canadian Cabinet. During the absence of Lord Grev from Canada last year. Mr. Justice Girouard acted as Deputy-Govcrnor-General.
