THE L.M.S.

Last evening at Constable Street. Congregational Church (in connection with the quarterly meeting of the 'Wellington auxiliary of the London Missionary Society) Brigadier Glover gave an address on Java. The population of Java, ho slated, is made ud of Javanese, Jlalajs. Chinese, Dutch and a few Arabians. About five languages arc spoken and the people ai 8 mostly Mohammedans. Others are followers of Confucius. Good work is being done there by missionaries. At the conelusion of the address n vote of thanks was passed to Brigadier Glover.
