" THE COLUMBIA CLUB. .The Columbia Lacrosse Club held its second annual meeting last evening, Mr. : A.,H'.'Casey presiding.over a fair attendance. The annual report, leading particulars of?which were published yesterday, was adopted. Three new members were admitted to the club. 'The. following. officers were elected for the ensuing year Patron, Mr. J. Web§t<ir; president, Mr. E. Fletcher; vicepresidents, Messrs. G. A. Troup, E. A. Dawson, L. 0. 11. Tripp, A. S. Smith, J, A. B. Howe; hon. secretary, Mr. G. C. Tama; hon. treasurer, Mr. M'Govern; captain, Mr. A. 11. Casey; vice-captain, Mr. G. C. Fama; committee,' Messrs. O'Leary, L. Leydon, E. Duignan, and J; Quinn; hon. auditor, Mr. D. Verschalfclt; Selection Committeo, Messrs. Casey, Fama, and.Leydon; delegates to Lacrosse Association, Messrs. Casey and M'Govern. Formal business being transacted, .Mr. Casey delivered a short lecture on lacrosse, in: the course of which he outlined the elementary rules of play. The game, he claimcd, had all the qualities that entitled it to widespread recognition, and only enthusiasm on the part of its promoters was needed to ensure its coming , ultimately into favour. Those who took up lacrosse now might find themselves, twenty years hence, in a position occupied to-day by Eugby veterans, whose connection with the game went back to the eighties.
