Harvest Thanksgiving services in connection with St., Mart's Church are to be held next Sunday. Bungay foi the Grady medals. The death is announced (from lumberley, South Africa) of Mr. A. C. S. Rutherford in his 3Gth year. Sir. Rutherford was well known in the district'. Sir. Walter Hereock has purchased (from Timaru) the trotting stallion Waihapipi. Tho horso arrived here on Fri-. day. The local library's share of the Government subsidy to libraries is a little over .£lB. As the funds of the library ar« low, it comes as welcome help. The Roman Catholic Church servient in the South Wairarapa on Sunday wero conducted by the Rev. Father Harnett. The liev. Father Rowe is at present suffering from the effects of an accident. The unveiling ceremony in connection with the Tamahau and Slahupukii memorial takes place at Papauai on Thure[•day week.
