THE CANADIAN NORTHERN RAILWAY.
$ ' NEW TRANS-CONTINENTAL LINE. By Telegraph—Press Aseociation-Copyrieht Ottawa, March 19., It is officially stated that the Canadian Northern Trans-Continental Railway will be completed in January, 1911. THREE THROUGH ROUTES. Canada will in a few years have three Trans-Continental railways. There is the present Canadian-Pacific line running across to Vancouver, via Winnipeg; then in 1912 the Grand Trunk Pacific wilt have its through line Opened to Princo Rupert, north of Vancouver on tho Pacific coast. This lino will run via ; Edmonton, and considerably to the north of the CanadianPacific, though generally parallel to it. The Canadian Northern, referred to in tho cable, message, follows a route north again of the Grand Trunk until Edmonton is reached. The two lines hero cross,, the Canadian Northern making - southwest, for Vancouver. Tho line "from Edmonton will pass down the North Thompson Valley to Kamloops, opening up ono of the mo&t fertile tracts of central British Columbia, admirably suited to fruit growing, grain, and general mixed farming. Much of this country is also rich in minerals. From Kamloflps the line will practically parallel the C.P.R. to Vancouver. The company has to complete construction from Edmonton to Vancouver in three years, when, in conjunction with its Eastern connection and construction,. tho C.N.R. will . become the. third groat Trans-Continental iinc. In Alberta several lines of tho C.N.R. will radiate from Edmonton. Ono of the-so lines is to come south from Edmonton to Calgary, and will open up a district mostly to the west of the C.P.R. line, which _ it will cross near Calgary, and come, in from the East. Another is tho Peace River line, which will pass northwest into 'the Grand Prairie country. A third will be the Athabasca Landing line.
