THE IMPERIAL CONFERENCE.
MR. ASQUITH URGED TO PRESIDE. By Telegraph— jissociation-Copyrieht (Bee. March 20, 10.30 p.m.) London, March 20. "Tho Times," in a leading article, advocates that Mr. Asquith should preside at the Imperial Conference, instead of the Colonial Secretary, as heretofore. This much is due to men who have travelled thousands of miles and' devoted months of work to preparation for the conference. The status of the conference as the highest deliberative body in the Empire would otherwiso deteriorate,,and the Prime Ministers of the Dominions in future would be less disposed to spend their time and trouble in attending the gatherings.
