A report touching Hie operations of lh< municipal oleeinc light department wa: laid before the Power Stations Commit tee of the City Council yesterday by tin engineer and manager (.Mltichardson). The report covers tile month ot February, and aUo so huiuuUp- working results for the eleven months ending- on February 28 last. The gross revenue ot (he electric lighting department for the month of February shows an increase of .£303, and the expenditure an increase of .£167, including an amount of £505 far of boilers. The gross revenue for the eleven months to date amounts to .£42,550, an increase of «tB9O, ami the expenditure .623,859, a decrease of «C3JJ. Included iu the expenditure to date is an amount of £2231, being I'art c° st ?' \ IC removal nixel re-erection of boilers in the li"htin" station. The actual working expenses for the eleven months' are, therefor, «£-25f>7 below last year. After provulin" for this special expenditures and capital charges, the net result to date is a credit balance of 0:2257, as compared with <£2212 last year. . .. . • The Mavor stated yesterday that, as the sum of .£2231 expended on improvements at the lighting station had been provided out of revenue, tlio acluul ieof operations to date was a credit balance twice as good as that for the corresponding eleven months of the previous year. There is also an increase of 719 units for the month for power and heating purposes.
