AT TRENTHAM AND ELSEWHERE. "With the "big" meeting over, and most of' the company competitions completed, Ihe attendance of riflemen at (lie Saturday afternoon shooting matches at Trentham and elsewhere is steadily diminishing. As the autumn grows older, too, the light is beginning to fail as the last ranges are being fired over, and ihis is tho most reliable precursor of the definite end of the season, which dies hard, all tho same. .. IvARORI RIFLE CLUB. .. The lCarori Rifle Club fired the third match of the service series on Saturday. The conditions were:—Five shots at 200 yards, target exposed for 4 seconds; and 5 shots at 300 yards, with target exposed for 10 seconds per shot. President Marshall, with a score of 38 o»i,t of. *, possible of 40, secured first place, . closely -followed by. Riflemen Rabo. (37) and Cas"sellf' (36). President Marshall's shoot included- a possible at 200 yards. Betailed scores :— 300 200 yds. yds. This match concluded the service aggregate," for which trophies were presented by Captain G. T. Hall and President Marshall. The whole of this series has been fired, in accordance with the Defence Department's regulations for rifle' clubs, and a very high average of shooting has been, maintained. ■ Tho competition was won by President Marshall "(150), who takes Captain Hall's! trophy, Rifleman Burns winning President Marshall's trophy. Leading aggregates:— Marshall, 150; Burns, 146; Randell, 115; Hay, 142; Rabe, 140; Caldwell, 140; Follows, 136; Coady, 122; Judd, 109; Cassells, 104; Jones, 101. A sweepstake match was. also fired, the conditions being: Seven shots each at 200, 500, and COO yards. The weather conditions were favourable to good shooting, but .the changing light puzzled some of ths competitors considerably. Rifleman Judd, with an excellent shoot of 101 out of a possible 105, secured first place,' President Marshall (97) being runner-up. Scores 200 500 . 600 yds. yds. yds. H'p. T'l.
