LIFE-SAVING.

EXAMINATION AT MASTERTON. An examination of members of the Y.M.C.A. Life-Saving Class at Masterton, who have been receiving instruction under Mr. A. Snowball, was conducted in tho Ladies' Baths by Mr. J. A. Somervillo. of Wellington, on Thursday afternoon and yesterday morning. Out of sixteen entrants, seven qualified for the Royal Life-Saving Society's medallion, and four for proficiency certificates. The successful candidates for the medallion were: Evelyn M. AYaddington. Aunie Agnes O'Leary, George 11. Holder, William O'Brien, James Tait, Harold J. Pryor, and Edw\ard Perry. Proficiency: Alma Perry, Esmee Ellon Petheriek, Johan Nellie O'Dowd, and Eiola Gwendoline Andrews. Hlpfnentciry: Miry i: Katherilio Olsen. Gwendoline Esmee Dixon." Christina Peters, Florence May Kerr, and -Martha Prcntice Peters.- Awards of merit were secured by: Miss • Annie O'Leary 75.}, George H. Holder 79, and Alf. Snowball 69. A proficiency certificate was secured by Ellen Josephine O'Leary.'

Speaking of tho examination to a reporter last night, Mr. Somervi'lo stated that tho results reflected credit on the .instructor, Mr. Snowball, who is an undoubted enthusiast, and who secured permission from the Boroutrh Council to hold weekly classes of an hour each at tho baths on an afternoon Specially set aside for the purpose. Tho candidates for the examinations showed special ability in the water, but were not. quite so good on land. . .

THE WORSER BAY CLUB,

Tho Worser Bay Life-saving Club will conclude its season to-day with tho final distance, 150 yds., for the Brodie Cup. A largo entry has been received and a good race is anticipated. An exhibition of life-saving and diving will also be given by club members off the Seatoun Wharf.
