METHODIST ECUMENICAL CONFERENCE.
The Methodist Ecumenical Conference will'bo held "at Toronto ■ early in October, and will bo a very brilliant and important gathering. Dr. Fitchett, at tlio request of the American coinmittce, has been invited to preach on the lirst Sunday evening of the conference, ami to contribute to the literature of tho conference a paper on "Methodism—its Place in the Church Universal." . Tho other tonics assigned to Australia aro addresses on "Characteristics of Early Methodist Preaching," and "The Church and tho Recreations of Young People." 'Ihe Rev. AY. G. Taylor (Sydney) and the Rev. L. Hudson (New 7,oalaiul) aro to be invited to contribute these. The. oldest Wesleyan in Yorkshire, Mr. Turner' Grange, of Hampsthwaitc, celebrated bis ninety-sixth birthday recently. Ho has l)ceu a local preacher for seventy-two years. Mr. Grango can read the. smallest print without' tho aid of glasses, and can recall the'festivities in connection with tho coronation of George IV. He is a total abstainer .and a UQn-smoker s .
