A comparative statement of tramway returns, laid before the lliramar Borough Council Inst evening, shows that for tho three four-weekly periods to March 2, 1910, tho net gain on tho Miramar section was £3 7s. sd. During tho corresponding period in 1911. there was a net ,loss of S$ Gs. Bd. The net gain on tho Seatoun section during tho same poriod in 1910 was .£37 lGs. 8(1. For tho corresponding poriod in 1911 tho net gain on tho Seatoun section increased to .8177 4s. 2d. The not gain in 1910 on both lines for the poriod stated was -Ell 4s, Id. The net gain for tho corresponding period in 1911 was .£167 17s. 6d. Tho extra penny faro did it, commented the Mayor (Mr. J. Brodic), referring to tho credit balance upon tho working of tho Seatoun line. Councillors agreed that the year had been a good one, and that the next was likely to be better. Regulations under tho Kauri-Gum Industry Acts, and regulations under the Native Land Act, 1909, are gazetted. A new scale of gratuities to be paid to the masters of vessels for the conveyance of mails by sea is gazetted.
