A MAYOR'S CHEQUE. ' Says our West Coast correspondent:— The finances of tho Borough of Greymouth are so straitened that, there was not sufficient money in hand to meet the ordinary expenditure until March 81, and as the bank refused to make any further advance, and rather than ,sce tho employees go without their wages, the Mayor gave his own cheque for .£IOOO, without interest—a magnanimous act indeed.
