The reason for doer shontiiig in tho W'airarapa has been fixed to open on April 1 and close on Hay 15. The Feathorston' Debating Society, which was formed last year, will shortly bold a meeting with a view to making arrangements for the coming winter. Last year's session was a very successful one, (lie subjects for debate being interesting and keenly discussed. A temporary fordway has been made over Abbott's Creek, at the foot of the liimutaka, and motor-cars can negotiate the stream. The proposal of the Automobile Club to erect, a platform bririge is now believed to be imnracticable owing to the liability of flood water to wash the structure away. It is reported that a deputation will wait on the Government asking that assistance be grant-" od towards, building a proper trafficbridge, which, it is estimated, could bo done for about JE3OO. The local Skating Club having applied for the use of the Town Hall ono night per week, at the reduced rental allowed to dancing assemblies, Mr. T. Saunders, a member of the Town Board, has given notice of motion that the resolution fixing the tariff at £2 10s. per night be rescinded.
