HUTT COUNTY COUNCIL.

The. members present at tho monthly meeting ■of the Hutfc County Council were Messrs. Lynch (chairman), Welch, Wakeman, Galloway, Edwards, and Whitoman.

The inspector of works reported that the. heavy rainfall recently had caused some considerable damage, but nothing of a costly nature.

A report was received from the members deputed to wait on the Upper Hutt Town' Board regarding the Pnliautanui to Upper Hutt Road. Tho members said that no reply had yet been received, hut if when it was to hand it was satisfactory -the proposal was to wait on the Minister "in conjunction with Messrs. Field and Wilford, M.P.'s, with a view of getting assistance to complete the work. Mr. C. Odliii attended the council and asked for. certain assistance in regard to his road, off the Hutt-Waikanae Road-. The matter was referred' to the chairman and clerk to attend to.

Tho Public Works Department returned the plans, approved, of tho Muugaroa River bridge. This bridge, when completed, will connect Upper Hutfc and Mungaron. The Tourist " Department suggested the advisability of erecting finger-posts at the various cross roads to assist tho travelling public.

Mr. J. W. Cudby, the county inspector of, works, was appointed deputy rc-turning-officer for the county in connection with the Harbour Board elections.

The council affixed - its seel to the dedicatieu of certain land at Plimmcrton for the purpose of a railway crossing.

Mr;. E. M. Beauchamp-Platts complained that the Cower Road, Trcntbam, was i.i a rough condition. The matter is to be attended to.

Mr. C. Elgar called attention to a dangerous corner on the Rimutaka Road: Tho matter was referred to tho inspector of works, with instructions to have the corner seen to.

Holders of stock are to be notified that they will be prosecuted if their animals wander in the Plimmcrton Road district.

It was decided to execute a lease from the Pahautamii Domain Board of a pound site. I It was decided to call tenders for j metalling 4G chains of the Pahautanui•Plirnmerton Road. Tho road work required on Whiteman's Valley P.oad is to .bo carried dufc by day labour, as the tenders received exceeded tho engineer's estimate.

The tender of S. -Handley was accepted for fencing along tho 'Plimnier-ton-Pahautanui Road.
