POHANGINA COUNTY COUNCIL.
The monthly meeting of the Pohangina County Council was held on Saturday, when there were'present: Councillors Browne (chairman), Smith, Howie, AVagstaff, Burn, Eglinton, and Port. : Mr. Andrews was re-appointed as the council's representative on the Feilcliug Technical School Committee. A request from tha Apiri Chamber of Commerce that an approach should bo mada to the Oroua liiver, between Apiti and Kimboitou, was referred to tho engineer. The Waiata School Committee was granted permission to take fifty yards of. metal from the council's quarry. A vote .of condolence was passed to Mrs. 6. C. Wheeler and family regarding their recent bereavement (the death of Mr. Wheeler). A number of transfers on the rate-roll were made. C. H. Hartley was granted a further lease of reserve section 11, Pohangina, for five years, at a rental of 6s. sd. It was resolves! to call for tenders (same to be in by next meeting) for quarrying 700 yards of metal in the pits on tho Jlaiii Road, Apiti, and for the supply and delivery of GSO yards of metal on Turcpo Road. . ' ' The road inspector's report was read and adopted. The treasurer reported that the -whole'■ of tho rates had been collected.
