Santa Barbara is a city of 6500 inhabitants, and lies 371 miles south of San Francisco. It is often called the "American Mentone," and is charmingly situated on the coast •plain at the' base of the foothills. It has a well-deserved reputation as one of. the most attractive winter resorts in California.
