Discussing tho election of two country members for the Wellington Harbour Board, at tho Feilding Borough Council, Councillor Tollcy said that tho board had gone in for a very expensive policy, and needed watching. Recently, lie added, tho charges had been raised by 6d. per ton, and in one month this meant additional charges to his firm alone of £10. Yet people thought that they were not taxed. Councillor Tollcy said that ho mentioned this in the hope that an intelligent interest would be shown in the election. Tho Mayor proposed that, Councillors Tollcy, Bramwell, Atkinson and himself bo a committeo to consider the question of nominating a representative "for tho hoard.
The Apiti Committee is to open the now Technical School 011 March 29.
Instead of the term holidays in May, the Wangauui Education Board has decided to close all schools for Easter week.
Tho Primitive Methodists of Rongotea and Taikorea presented a purse of sovereigns to the Iter. D. B. F. Carlisle, who has been transferred to Eltliam, and the Rongoteans presented a haudsome silver teapot to his mother.
The Foilding Golf Club has elected the following officers for the year •—President, Mr. David Pryde; vice-president, Mr. W. H. M'Lcan; captain, Ml'. Parkes; trustee, Mr. Power; secretary and treasurer, Mr. H. G. Logic; committee, Messrs. Ongley, Miles, Harding. Lewis, and Caiman, with officers C.\ officio. The links aro in very good condition, and it is anticipated will be opened on April 1.
