A disturbance passed southward of New Plymouth and Jfapior during Tuesday night and early this morning, with winds veering by west to south, the glat* then rising steadily, liain fell in most parts of the South Island, and the weather una generally changeable. Present indications are for moderate to strong south-easterly winds in the north and southerly and westerly wind!, in the south. The weather will probably he unsettled on tho East Coast and about Fovcaux Strait, but conditions arc improving elsewhere. The barometer will probably rise slowly everywhere D. C. BATES.
