THE PLAGUE IN MANCHURIA.
(K-cc. March 8, 11 p.m.) : Peking, March 8. The epidemic of plaguo in Manchuria ia rapidly decreasing. Eighteen deaths occurred at Mukden on Monday, but other places are almost free.

London, March 7. The death is announced of Signor Antonio Fogazzaro,, the well-knoivn Italian litterateur.

Sydney, March 8. Mr. Deakin, Leader of the Federal Opposition, is stumpin'c the country in the anti-referenda interest. To-night he addressed a big meeting in the Town Hall.
A NEW ADMIRAL.
I London, March 8. Yice-Admiral Sir Hedworth Lambton, Commander-in-Chief on the China Station since 1908, has been promoted to the rank of Admiral.
THE KING'S BIRTHDAY.
London, March 8. The King's Birthday will bo celebrated by the Navy on tho Home stations oil May 27 and on other stations oil June 3.
COLONEL NEILD DEAD,
. Sydney, March 8.Colonel J. C. Neild,'formerly one of the New South "Wales senators in the Federal Parliament, is dead, aged 65. [The deceased was an arbitrator and insurance expert by profession. Ho became a member of the New South Wales Parliament in 1885.]
BRITISH SHOPPING WEEK.
London, March 7. The "Daily Mail" says it is not clear how Germany could retaliate against the British shopping week. Already with a 25 per cent, tariff, she has done her utmost to exclude British- goods.
CAPTAIN STRUCK BLIND.
San Diego, March 7. The ship Aryan has arrived here. She left Philadelphia 207 days ago. The Captain was struck blind during the voyage.
THE IRONBARIt TRAGEDY.
Melbourne, March 8. Camelia M'Clusky, who murdered her three children on August 7 at Ironbark,near Bendigo, and who has been detained owing to - temporary insanity, is to be liberated. Arrangements have boon made for her to enter a convent.
PRINCE LEOPOLD.
Sydney, March 8. Prince Leopold of Battenberg, who has been suffering from hemorrhage of the throat, is recovering.
LORD CHELMSFORD.
Sydney, March 8. The State Governor (Lord Chelmsford) is taking a trip to England. At a farewell banquet he amusingly denied a number of rumorus which might circulate regarding his object.
