BON VOYAGE.

CAPTAIN SAMUEL FAREWELLED. Members of the Heretaunga Mounted Rilles and their friends mustered in foroe around the tables at tho Hotel Windsor last ovening, when Captain A. M. Samuel, who will shortly be leaving to attend the Coronation, was entertained at a complimentary dinner. Tho chairman (Lieutenant Hamilton), in proposihg tho toast of the guest, said that Captain Samuel had been in. oomraand of the Heretaunga Rifles for about seven years. At tho beginning of that period about hvo X.C.O.'s and four men appeared on parade, but he had brought tho squadron up to a very efficicut state. They were proud to have him going Home to represent tho Heretaunga Mounted Rifles in tho Coronation procession, and they hoped lie would havo a very good time. Colonel Pringlo expressed similar good wishes, and said he was ooilfident that Lieutenant Hamilton and the other officers and tiie N.C.O.'s would thoroughly keep up the efficiency of thc < squadron during the absence of Captain Samuel. 11 o hoped there would be 121) in tho Heretaungns by tho timo the captain returned. Captain' Samuel received an ovation on rising to respond to the toast. Ho gratofnlly* acknowledged the loj-al assistance ha had' received from lus officers And X.C.O.'s, without which ho could not have kept the squadron alive. Ho regretted that Lieutenant Everard's removal to tho Manawntu would involve his withdrawal from tho Heretaungas. Ho was very glad to learn that the squadron would remain as tho Heretaunga Mounted Rifles, and would not bo disbanded. General Godloy had told him after tho recent camp thai his intention had been to disband them, but ho was so pleased with the efficiency shown that ho had decided not to do so. (Applause.)
