■Messrs. Dalgety and Co., Ltd., report holding a very successful sale at Waikanae yesterday. Sheep came forward in good numbers, hut ouly a few cattle were yarded. Quotations :-Two-tooth ewes, 12s. Bd., 12s» 11s. 7(1.; four-tooth ewes, small, 125.: f.m. ewes, Bs., ss. 5d.; two-tooth wethers, 12s. 7d., 12s. 2d.; mixed two-tooths, 9s. 4d. Cattle: Fat cows, £5 55.; 18-month steers, £2 lls.; winners, 315.; two-year steers, £3 9s.
The New Zealand Loan and Mercantile Agency Co., Ltd., report on their Waikanae sale held on Tuesday as follows :-We> had a full yarding of sheep, but no cattle. Sheap met with a very dragging sale. We, however, quitted the major portion of our yarding at tho followins prices :-On account of Mrs. Eadlield, four and six-tooth Romney ewes, 125.; f.f.m. Romney ewes, us.; f.m. Eoianey ewes, Bs. 9d., 9s. On account of other vendors, fat ewes, 12s. 6d.; cull e\TC;.. 3s. 6d., 4s. 9d.; cull lambs, Is. 3d., 25.; two-tootli Romney rams, on account of Mr. O. P. Lynch, 3J guineas.
The New 'Zealand Loan and Mercantile Agency Company, Ltd., report:—At Pahautanui. on Monday, we yarded 2228 sheepr and just on 100 head of cattle. Included in our entry was the whale of Mr. Stephen Jones's stock. Competition for these was keen, and a!I were cleared at satisfactory prices,'as were also the rest of our yardinc of sheep, with the exception of SCO odd cull ewes and lamb?. , which were passed in. HTJNTERVILLE P.AM FAIR. Messrs. Dalgety and Company, Limited (Palmerston North) branch report:—The Associated Auctioneers held their Huntervillc ram fair on Friday last, when an entry of some SCO rams was offered to avery good attendance of buyers. Practically tho whole yarding, consisting of Komneys and Lincolns, and all the better class sold readily, there being keen competition from up-country buyers. Only a few cheap were turned out unsold, and, taking tho fair as a whole, it was considered one of the most satisfactory that has been held in tho district. (Duncdin) :report as follows:-Under instructions from Mr. John R. Mackenzie, we recently offered, without'reserve, at auction, his famous Popotunpa stud of Clydesdale horses. Mr. Mackenzie's name as a prominent breeder of, and a most extensive trader in, Clydesdales being almost a household word throughout Australasia, it is not surprising that the knowledge that us famous stud was to pare under the lammer attracted an enormous crowd of Clydesdale men from all parts of the Dominion, as well as from Victoria. Subjoined is a summary of the sale, and it is worthy of note that it n claimed that the pricce obtained for the imported stallions were records for Australasia.
