THIRD DAY. PERFECT WEATHER AND GOOD SHOOTING. GENERAL GODLEY AT THE RANGE.

Perfect weather prevailed for tho third 'day's . shooting at the Trentham Hide Championship .Meeting yesterday, and high scoring was a featuro of tho marksmanship. Tho day was crowded with events, tho big .two-range Nolson Match (ten shots at 500 and COO yards), tho ten shot Canterbury Match, at 800 yards, two Service Matches, an "extra" match, and a Team's Match were completed. Tho prospects of continued fine weather are very promising, and everyone is in high epirits. Tho Commandant of tho Now Zealand Forces, Major-Gcneral A. J. Godlcy, C.8.,' accompanied' by Colonel A. W., Robin, C.8., Adjutant and Quarter-master-General of the Forces; Colonel R. J. Collins, 1.5.0., Chief Executive Officer of the D.R.A., and Captain B.' C. Spencer Smith (Staff Officer),"motored out to the range yesterday, and lunched with tho Executivo Staff. After lunch the General the camp, and spent some timo on r the mounds, taking'a special interest in the Service Matches. The-party left for town about i p.m.

SYNOPSIS OF EVENTS. Opening Match and Carbine Cup (105 points)-Won by Rifleman R. Stewart, Weber, 100 points; runner-up, Corporal F. A. Wagner, PopotUnda, 99 points, Wellington Match (50 points)-Won by Lance-Corporal J. Hunt, Wellington Post and Telegraph Rifles, 50 points; runnerup, Rifleman C. J. Franklin, Weber, 50 points (second place on the "countback.'.') Auckland: Match : (100 points)-Won by Rifleman W. S, Penny, Sandan-Ohakea, 97 points; runner-up. Rifleman F. C. Hay,- Karori, 94 points. Snap-Shooting Match (35 paints)— Won by Gunnor G. Keenan, Wellington, 35. Nelson Match (100 points)-Wonby Sergt-1 Major Drumniond, Westporti'9B points; runner-up, Lieut. W. Duncan, Millcrton Rifles, 97. / Canterbury Match. 800 yards.—Won by G. Hyde, Opaki Riflo Club, 50 points.' Runner-up, W. H. Moselem, Kaeo Rifle Club, 50 points (won on a "count back." Loophole Cover Match;. Won by .Private Lafcirigj Blenheim) 10 hits (6 bulls). The- Section Firing Match—a teams' ' contest under service conditions—was not completed when the targets were turned down for the day* - The Moving Target Match was completed, but th 9 computation of. the results will not bo completed till to-day.
