FOOTBALL.
THE PONEKE CLUB. The Poneke Football Club's annual report contains a long statistical record of its performances last season with which our readers aro already familiar. The only interesting portion of tho report is that which states that previous to 1903 the-club had a record of 204 matches played, 131 won, 51 lost, and 22 drawn. This had increaseu at the end of last season to 303 played, 197 won, 78 lost, and 28 drawn. Theso represented 2714 points scored, as against 1236 by opponents. In 1909 IS games were played—the largest number in one season. Individual scores of over 100 points by club members are as follow:—W. J. Wallace, 62 goals from tries, 1 potted goal, 5 goals from marks, 18 placed goals, 31 tries—3o4 points; F. Mitchinson, 3 goals, from tries, 4 potted goals, 1 placed goal, 31. tries—llß points; T. E. Ellison, 18 goals from tries, 1 placed goal, 21 tries—lll points. Scorers of over 50 points are:— Slattery, Wynyard, Nicholls, Gage, W. Roberts, Muir, Lusk, Instone, Walshe, Twohill, and Gardiner.
