The "grand old man" of Highgalo Ponds, Mr. William M'Kcnzie, long known as "Grandfather" by his fellowmembers of the well-known Highgat.e Lifebuoys Club, has passed away in his North London home. Ho was in his ninety-third year. Up till recently ho was bathing in Highgatc Ponds, where ho had bathed for many years. His unfailing regularity at ninety-two probably constitutes a record in natation. Until three years ago ho joined in tho Highgatc Lifebuoy winter bathing sports. His practice was to walk over two mile*, from Highbury and back, for his swim. Mr. M'Kcnzio was for a long time a Fleet Street optician, and his eyesight appears to have been perfect to tho last.
