PAGEANT FOR WELLINGTON.

BOYS' INSTITUTE ENTERPRISE. Wellington, .'.ike many places in older countries, is to have its pageant. Arrangements are being made by a committee of the Boj's'.lnstituto to bring such an event to puss on n large scale some time next spriag. Communications have been opened w:.lh various authorities, in-, eluding the secretary and organiser of the large historic pageant which recently look place in South Africa and the great forthcoming Coronation pageant, with a view to producing facsimile representations of the various tableaux which aro being designer: for the latter occasion. Scenes illustrative of tho national lifo and history of New Zealand will also bo presented. It will be remembered that a special effort -vas made last year to raiso the sum of ,£SOOO for a building for tho institute, and another ,£SOOO for an endowment. The effort was seriously handicapped, owing to tho overlapping of tho Children's Hospital campaign, but notwithstanding this, the sum of ,£SOOO has now been reached with which it would bo possible to go on with the building immediately. Two largo gifts, one of ,£535 from a generous friend of the institute, who has modestly adopted, for tho occasion, the pseudonym "Square," and another of .£250 from a donor who is only' to be known in this connection as "Pound," have made up the fund to .£SOOO. Tho committee, after consultation with the donor of the site, has decided not to start the building until at least -£2500 out of the further ,£SOOO required for the endowment fund has been subscribed. It is.to raise this sum that the proposed pageant is to be held. Any ladies or gentlemen willing to assist .should leave their names and addresses with Messrs. G. and T. Young, jewellers, Lnmbton Quay.
