THE LIQUOR LAW.
BOTTLE AND WHOLESALE LICENSES. (By rclccraph.-rress Association.! OUncdln, March G. At the quarterly meeting of tlio City Licensing Committee to-day threa firms, who now hold bottle licenses, applied for wholesale licenses. Mr. Hanson appeared'' in support of two applicants, and Mr. W. C. M'Uregor for the third. Mr. Hanlon said as there was a possibility of liottle lieeuscs not being renewed nt the annual meeting, the applicants thought it desirable that they should now be granted wholesale licenses. There wero very few wholesale licenses in the town, and when bottle licenses wero abolished it would bo necessary in tho interests of the public that ticro should bo more wholesale licenses.
Ihe chairman (Mr. Widdowson) said the 'committee required evidence in support uf the application. The committee did- not think there was necessity for granting the licenses. Mr. Hanlon asked for time to prepare evidence, and tho chairman suggested that tlio applications should stand over till the June meeting. 31r..Hanlon said there-was .an ohjection to that' course. If these persons 'were not to get their bottlo licenses in June, and knew now they would not get wholesale licenses, they would have three mouths in which to dispose of stock. ■ - ■'
After further discussion the applications were adjourned till Friday afternoon.
