fjrom Our Special Correspondent! While endeavouring to pass on the Hutt Bridga on Saturday afternoon two motorcars crashed into each other. Tho occupants escaped without injury, but' tho cars wore badly knocked about. Mr. N. Trenzione, of Brooklyn, owned one of the cars, and Mr. F. Butler,- of Wellington, the other. Tho Hutt Fire Brigade's recent bazaar has proved a successful event financially. Tho proceeds will bo devoted to the brigade's uniform fund. : The Hutt Skating Rink is undergoing a thorough renovation preparatory to the opening of the rinkiiig season. A new specially-designed floor is being put down, and 10 feet of the stage has been removed. This has increased the skating spu.ee to 11(1 feet by 00 feet, and it is claimed that It is now the largest skating floor in the AA ? ellington district. Mr. J. Duggan has obtained a three-years' lease of the building, and will equip the rink with new skates and accessories. There will be a special room for learners, and for these instructors will be in attendance. It is expected that repairing operations will be complete in a week or two. The Gear Company's slaughtering season is now practically at its height. Last month 158,000 sheep were slaughtered at tho abattoirs in 24 days. The previous largest tally was in March, 1903, when the number was 151,000. A correspondent from Epuni Hamlet writes pointing out the danger of a blind, stagnant creek which is situated in ihe Epuni Hamlet School ground. The creek, he states, is full of rubbish, end is a menace to the children's health. He thinkr that it is time that the creek was filled in.
