A BARMAID FINED. (By Teleeraph—Press .'Association.! . ...* " Christchurch, February 22. • In inflicting fines at Lyttelton on a barmaid, of 10s. in respect to ; each of three charges of having supplied liquor to youths, Mr. Bishop, S.M., said : that servants in licensed premises would have to exercise moro 'tare in supplying persons, regarding whoso age they had any doubts. It was not sufficient for them to merely ask ; if. a person were over twenty-one, so inviting untruthfulness. Where any doubt .existed • a servant should refuse to supply, liquor;.; If any licensee were brought before the court for having refused, to serve liquor in such a case he would uphold the hotelkeeper where there was reasonable ground for.his suspicions.; :
