A meeting of the Wellington Centre of the New Zealand Amateur' Swimming Association was held in the _ Y.M.C.A. rooms last evening, Mr. G. S.' Hill presiding. .; ■■ . • Complications threatened by the applications of the Victoria College Club and the combined Wellington and-Y.M.C.A. Clubs, who had arranged to hold their carnivals on March 4, were discussed at soma length. It appeared that the Victoria Collego Club intended holding its sports at the Wellington College Baths, the gathering to bo a semi-privato one, only persons specially invited to attend. The combined clubs' gathering was to be in tho Te Aro Baths, and open to the general public. The general opinion was that tho carnivals would not conflict, but several speakers urged that the combined clubs should have been consulted by the Victoria College Club before they were allowed to proceed with their arrangements. It was decided by 7 to 6 t6 allow the. three clubs in question to hold their carnivals on March 4. The Swifts Ladies*, Club is also holding its carnival on tho same date. . The Ladies' League Club, which start 3 with a membership' of 22, was granted affiliation to the centre. A date for a carnival in connection with the opening of the new Carterton Baths was granted. The Boys' Institute was granted permission to hold a series .'of races for. its members during the season. ......
