' HARVEST FESTIVAL SERVICES. ' - Thrco special harvest, festival services were held yesterday under tlio. auspices of tho Central Mission, In tlio morning an address was delivered by tho Roy. lj. Richards, who took ns tho basis of his discourse tho:parable of tho sower. A combined Mission and Brotherhood meeting was held in the afternoon at tho Herbert Street Hall. The choir contributed a programme of music appropriate to tho season, and solos were rendered by Messrs. Newton nnd George. Tho band plaved a sacred selection, and tlio Rev. J. il. Oldham, of Napier, spoke upon tho subject of "Tho Call for Toioigu Mission' Effort." , At, tlio evening set rice, special musical items wero again a feature. A 'cello ; solo was played by Mr. Light, and Miss Clark-sang-"The Soul's Awakening." The pioco■ chosen by,-the band on this occasion' was tho • sacred selection, ''The Earth-is tho Lord's, and tlio Fullness Thereof." Tho address, delivered by tho Rev. E..0. Blamires, was iit keeping with tho spirit of the season. He spoko of sowing nnd reaping, pointing the analogy between natural law and the laws .that operate in', tho spiritual realm. - Largo congregations, attended each service, and, anart from tho usual collection, many sca'sonable offerings of fruit and vegetables wero received. Theso will bo disoosed of at a "social," which is to be held at tho Horbcrt Street Ilall this evening. On Sunday next, tho Rev. E. 0. Blamires will be absent; attending tho annual Methodist Conference at Christchurcli. The Hon. C. M.-Luko will'preach-at'tho evening service in the' King s Theatre. .
