GOOD PRICES REALISED,

(By Telegraph—Press Association.) Masterton, February IG. The Solway ram fair was opened at Masterton. to-day. There was a good attendance of buyers and splendid entries of flock and stud sheep. Tho highest price realised lip to noon was 10 guineas for a one-shear flock Southdown. • .

(By Telegraph—Special Corrvjapondentl Masterton, February IG. At the Masterton ram fair to-day, a uniquo demonstration took placo on behalf of tho A. and P. Association. Mr. E. -Short, the well-known Tarorangi breeder, donated a stiul lioniney ram to tho funds of the association. This elicited keen competition, and was eventually knocked down to Mr. Arthur T. Clancy, Rcmuera Estate, Bay of Islands, for 150 guineas. Mr. W. B. Allen, of Taratahl, also donated a Romney ram, and the trustees of tho lato D. y M'Master a bullock to tho funds of the association. The former realised 46 guineas, and tho latter nino guineas.

Abraham and Williams report on tho first day's sale at Masterton ram fair is as follows:—Stud and flock Southdown, Shropshire, and Romneys 1 were submitted. Buyers for Romneys were present in large numbers, Hawke's Bay, Gisborne, Manawatu, Pahiatua, Waikato, Flimmerton, Bay of Islands, Banks l'enin-. sula, and Kelson districts being represented. Prices realised for this class in both studs and flocks were without doubt tho highest that have been ruling in Masterton for a .great number of years, vendors. expressing their great satisfaction at the prices made. Mr. Ernest Short topped tho market in studs with a shearling ram. the descendant of the celebrated Lord Roberts, tho purchaser being Mr. Arthur T. Close, of the Bay of Islands, at 150 guineas. Mr.. Short generously devoted the proceeds of his sale to the' Masterton Agricultural and Pastoral Society. Tho bidding for Sonthdowns was not up to expectations, and although we quitted our offering with the exception of a few odd sheep, prices were'one-to two guineas below last year's results. Tho following are the prices realised:— Stud Romneys: On account of Ernest Short, one to Mr. Close, 150g5.; ono to Mr. Cnrrie, of Wanganui, lOligs.; one to Mr. Clark, of Beaconsfield, 85gs. ;' one to Mr. Hunt, of Nelson, 50gs. Other studs, 20 to 30gs. On account of M'Gregor Bros., 13 to 15Jgs.; on account of A: and J. Gray, 6gs.; on account of W. H. Buick, Bgs.; on account of W. Perry, ono to Mr. Holmes Warren at 19gs.; others, 20 to 25gs. On account of, W. Gibson; One to A. Matthews, 70gs.; others, 9. to 20gs. On account of W. Rayner: 9gi. Flock Romneys: On account of E. J.
