v'From Our Own Correspondent.) Palmerston N., February 16.. Seventeen applications havo recently been made for admission of children to All Saints' Children's Home,- but unfortunately for the waifs there is no room there at present, tlio Home being occupied to its full capacity. There are at present twenty-two inmates : there, sixteen of them being boys and eight girls. Mr. A. Rowlands is shortly to give a lantern entertainment in aid of the funds of tho Torraco End School. Liko the other public schools of tho town, this one commenced tho New Year with a largo number of .new pupils, and the recent alterations have no more than provided accommodation for existing wants The number now on tho roll is 437. Tlio Manawatu Amateur Athletic Association has arranged to hold another of its popular evening meetings on February <>2. liie annual sports gathering is to bo held on March 8' on tho Talmerston sports ground. .
