DEATH IN A LONELY CAMP.

The body of Hugh Phillips, who was found'dead oil Tuesday morning near Whangamoiuona, still awaits .interment owing to no inquest having been held. Phillips lived a lonely camp" life, three miles from Whangatnomona. Ho was taken ill with internal pains. There was no doctor within forty wiles of tbo place, and he was treated to simple remedies, which nt first wero effectual., Tho licit thing, however, he was found dead. Tho only "police station" in".the'djstrict is at To 'AVara',. but at, tho timo tljo official was iriilw. away., on. other business.. and tho dead body has sjneo ' been/.lylng in'its rough bush coffin awaiting burial. ■ This morning Whangamomona townspeople were considering the advisablencss of interring the body, when they hoanl that a coronjr from Stratford was.on his way. l'hillips was employed os a railway surfocemap, and .he is understood to leave a widow in Wellington. v
