MEETING OF THE COUNCIL. .Tho monthly meeting'of tho Victoria College- Council was held last evening, there being present: Tho Chairman (Mr. 1L F. Von Haast). and Messrs. T. It". Fleming. H. D. Bell, C.'Watson, H. H. Ostler, J. G..W. Aitken, R. M'Callum, A. R. Meek, J. Graham, M.P., and the Rev. W. A. Evans. . On tho recommendation of the Finance Comrhittea it was agreed that tho New Zealand Dental Association be granted the use of rooms'at the collego in connection with tho annual Dental Conferenco in July next. It was reported that Mr. Justice Cooper had presented tho collego with 201 volumes of law reports. The thanks of tho council are to be conveyed to tho donor. Tho financial statement for tho mouth disclosed.a credit balance to £1163 Is. id. Upon a recommendation by tho Finance Committee that a deputation be appointed to interview the Minister for Education in connection with tho memorandum which was submitted to the Government in September- last concerning tho financial needs of the college, and to urgo upon tho Minister his favourable consideration thereof, the council authorised tho Finnnco-Committeo to make tho necessary arrangements for tho deputation, which,, it is proposed, will .be ac-' companied by representatives of the Professorial Board.
