TAIPARE-lOLANTHK PROTEST. A special general meeting of tlic Port Nicholson Yacht Club was held Inst evening to consider tho Taiparelolantlie protest. Tho chair was occupied by Mr. C. J. Ward. The evidence received by the committed nt the meeting held on January 10, when tho protest was first considered, was read out to tho meeting, as under nilo 23 nr fresh evidence, could ho brought up, Mr. 0. Freyberg moved that tho decision of the committee bo upheld, vi 2., that tho Taipare ho disqualified,foi rajiuuiai; tho lolaatho ou Hnlswell
lluoy. Mr. Douglas seconded the motion. Mr. Duncan, part-owner of the Tnlpare, moved an amendment that the decision of tho committee be reversed. Tho amendment was not seconded, and the original motion was put and carried. AN OCEAN RACE. A proposal to hold an ocean raco for bona fide cruisers' over a course from Wellington to Port Underwood nnd back is 'being considered by tho committee of tho P.N.Y.C. The suggestion ,is that tho raco should bo held early next month, and there appears to be every indication at present that satisfactory entries Will bo received. Mr. A. H. Holmes, secretary of tho club, who it leaving for Port Underwood in Messrs. Petherick Bros.' Kotiri to-day, will tako the opportunity of studying the possibilities of tho courso for such a race as tho ono proposed.
