A meeting of tho Native owners interested in the 'H'aituhunn' Blocks will be held in tho Mastertoii Courthouse tomorrow morning to consider an offer by the Crown to purchase the> land at the Government valuation. , , I At a meeting of the Masterton Trust Lands Trust to-night, it was decided to hold n special meeting to consider a report on the lighting of'the Town Hall. The 'Wairarapa Dug Circle held its annual meeting in Masterton, to-night. li was reported that since the formation of ■ the circle rin May last, over 20,000 dozen eggs had been sent to Wellington, which had realised approximately JCIOOO.

The Masterton auctioneers held the first sale of stock, at Te Wharau yesterday, when there was a large attendance of buyers, and nearly all the stock offered was quitted at satisfactory prices. Eain has fallcnon six days during tho present month. The fall,, however, has been exceedingly light, and practically of very little value to vegetation.

The remains of the late Mr. J. A. J. Maclean, which are bein» taken to Dnncdin for interment, were followed to the church and tho Masterton railway station this mornins by a largo number of friends.

A special train will arrive from the north to-morrow ■ with the first consignment of stock for the Masterton Show. Tho railway, siding at the showgrounds has been completed, and, as there are holding paddocks and looso boxes for horses on tho ground, there should'be little danger of stock going back between now and tho date of the show.

Masterton was well represented at the Pahiatua A. and P. Show to-day, and it is fully expected that the Forty-Mile Bush will reciprocate when the great Solway event takes place next week.

. Tho Masterton Eifles lifted camp to-day, after putting in a week's good work under Lieutenants Haslaiu and Brighting. •'

The Wftingawa.' freezing work 3 have been very busy during the last few weeks, and the management has found it almost impossiblo to. cope with tho rush of stock. ' - , '

A sitting of the Ikaroa Native Council was hold in Mastorton to-day. when several applications concerning local leases wore dealt with. The resignation of Mr. W. T. Mansfield, who has been appointed engineer to the Borough of 'Wnngamii. will be dealt with at a meeting of the Borough Council on Tuesday. It is expected that Mr. Mansfield will ho relieved of duty almost immediately.
