The shipment of-fruit" which-''airivcoV from Sydney on Wednesday consisted of 200 cases only, and a few crates of water melons, which realised from 6d. to 2e. each according to size. A'Bmall lino of Messina lemons also arrived by the Warrimoo. Thoy sold up to 16s. 6d. per case (150 lemons to tho case). The little passion fruit to hand by the-,Sydney boat brought from 4s. 6d. to ss. 6d. ;pcr half-case. By the Ulimaroa, which arrived from Melbourne yesterday, there arrived 300 cases of William Bon Chretien pears (from Victona). Tho bulk of them arrived in an ovcr-npo condition. Prom 9s. to lis. 6d. per case ,\vaa realised. Our own pears aro now beginning to come In from Christchurch and Auckland, and wore fetching from ss. 6d. to Es. per bushel case. Judging by the paucity of the shipments of stone fruits from Nelson, tho season was pretty well done. All that was coming m now were a. few lato varieties or plums, rho plum season had been an exceedingly short and merry one. The second crop of peaches may now be oipected daily. Tho market has felt the loss of supplies from the Frimley orchards this season very much. It was no uncommon thing for 600 or 700 cases of poaches to arrive daily from Hawke's Bay. In the height of the season. These are entirely absent and tho hawkers in particular feel tho loss occasioned by the big frost of three months ago.
Owing; to the poor prices realised ;• the rielson people have ceased sending tbmatoes, and the Hutt growers arc getting a look in. About 700 cases came to market yesterday from the Hutt, realising 3s. 6d. to 6s. 6d. per half case. Big crops are reported from tho valley at tho head of the harbour.
Local supplies of potatoes are coming in freely, and are selling at from ss. 6d. to 6s. 6d. per cwt. • Southern crops are no* ready, • and - already a few consignments have arrived in good condition. Vegetables in ordinary aro plentiful, with the exception of cauliflowers, which are scarce. Cucumbers, too, from local districts and Napier are plentiful, and have been sold recently as oheap as from ls;.6d.* to.2s. 6d. per half-case. Green peas are at famino prices. One grower who sent in a, lot yesterday was rewarded by getting 16s. 6d. ,por half-sack. Thero is a good demand for 'French beans at from 6s. 6d. to Bs. per halfsack. Blackberries have realised from 3s. to 4s. per bucket, and raspberries ss. per bucket. Tho season for these soft fruits is about over.
