—* . ' NEW ZEALAND CHAMPIONSHIP BELT. The tie between Bugler James Morgan, of No. 2 Company, Onehunga District High School Cadets,' and Bugler Kangi Down, of the 'Dannevirke North School Cadets, for the New Zealand school cadet rifle championship belt, was decided at Trentham Range yesterday afternoon, in the face of puzzling weather conditions; A fairly-stiff southerly—Trentham's worst wind—was' blowing at the time, ' and though the shooting of the boys was Very even, only two'bull's-eyes were registered by each. Down's other shots were all inners, but Morgan's second shot was an outer, and he was beaten by two points'. Tho match was at the 200 yds.' range, 10 shots each. The individual hits were as follow:— Bugler Down 3s-5454444444-42. Bugler Mprgan ; 3s-4255444444^-40. Among, those who were present at the contest were Colonel 8.. J. Collins, Chief Executive Officer of the Dominion Riflo Association, Major ; T. W. M'Donald, Commandant of the Junior Cadt'ts, Lieut. A. C. C. Stevens (Cadet Staff Officer), and several, school cadet officers. At the conclusion of the firing the boys were'briefly addresesd by Colonel Collins, wbo congratulated them on their shooting. . The runner-up, Bugler Fames Morgan, is a 13-year-old"; brother of ■ Bugler John Morgan who went-to England last year and distinguished himself at' the''Boys' Bisley Competitions, when .he.fired into the second place..
