Thcro was a. good attcudanco of buyers at the wool sales yesterday., but tho biddine. lacked animation. Tile condition of tho wool was hcapy, and tome parcels .were seedy and cot'.ed. Tho • market received very fair support from local buyers, but for foreign buyers many of tho lota were over-valued. / Taking the condition into account prices all round were easior, but not unsatisfactory. Tho reports of tho selling brokers appended give very full details of tho tone of the market and trend of priecs;—
ABRAHAM AND WILLIAMS, LTD. Messrs. Abraham and Williams, Ltd., report:—The fourth salo of the series was held yesterday, when tho olfcringa coinprised about 12,800 bales, of which wo catalogued 1955 hales. Bidding at tho outset was very dull, but improved as tho sale proceeded. Considering tho sale was held on a. falling market and tho wool generally in heavy condition, a satisfactory, clearance was made. Prices for bright frco wook were up to last sale's quotations, but faulty, lieavy-conditioncd parcels showed a decline of about halfpenny iior lb. Lambs' wool was in fair demand at about last sale's range of prices, especially bright clean wool. Tho lower quality, wools, viz., pieces, bellies, etc.. also sold on a par with those ruling a month ago. As Is usual at this time of tho year the offerings comprised a large proportion of wools from tho bush districts. Also many lato shorn clips with more or less hutuwai adhering to tho wool. ; I'iccos, bellies, and locks showed an improvement in 1 values to tho oxtcnt of id. to >jl per lb., taking quality into account. Tho .bidding wa3 spirited, but prices" somewhat irregular. In t:cnio exceptional cases Id. per lb. more was forthcoming for some January passed lots, but on tbo whole thcro was. a decline of probably Id. to id. per lb.
