CIfIUSTCIIUKCir. Christchurch, February 7. In the Supreino Court, John I.ee, for theft from the person, was Mmtenced In six months' imprisonment, and was declared a habitual criminal.' Jas. Iluil, found guilty of assault and robbery, was 'sentenced to tlireo months' imprisonment with hard labour, and was declared a habitual criminal.
OA JIAUI". Oamaru, February 7. At the Supreme Court to-day, before Mr. Justice Sim, Ihern were only three cases for trial. In the rase against Arthur .lame? Laurensou, for assaulting a girl under 10, the jury returned a verdict, of not guilty. John Clark was acquitted on a charge of obscene language and breaking from custody. On a charge of committing mischief by wounding three rows with a shot gun, brought against James Ilutton, the jury failed to agree, but counsel for the accusal, in order to avoid a retrial, said tho accused wuuld plead guilty. lie was fined 10s„ and costs. The cows had gone into accused's crop, and ho fired at them, ho saiil, with no intention to do them harm.
