Hayden, a labourer, aged 43," a verdict was returned that death was due to drowning,, but there wa? .no'evidence to show how tho body cimo into the water. Hayden was a .stranprer ill Iho district, behig on his way to a situation at Holmos's Bay. He left Lnko l'orsyth Hotel sober, and was seen lying on tho edge of tho river bank. His body was found in tho river adjacent to the spot where ho was seen lying down.

Mr. (icorge Ward was'tho fil'r-t to roach tho unfortunate man, who appeared to bo in such a bad way that ftiedieal aid was summoned. Dr. Henry,'km arrival, pronounced life to bo extinct, and tho body was removed to the Morgue, where an inquest will bo held to-day. According to some papers found on'tho body of tho deceased, he was 11.years of age, and had lieen'a. pantryman'oir tho Maravoa, but signed off that vessel last month. HUNTING MACHINE ACCIDENT. Ernest Trtieman, Ij years of age, a printer's assistant,"employed at .Fabiisbrt's 'printing' wdi'ks 'itV' Farisli Street, and residing at -l Alfred Street, was admitted to tho Hospital "yesterday suffering with an injured hand. While thn lad was engaged at work, his hand got caught in the printing'machine, and was badly mangled.
