(From Oar Special Correspondent! Miss K. Jamieson, tho assistant teacher, who is leaving tho district, will bo greatly missed. Sho inado herself very popular, and always took a leading part in church as well as.social matters.
A fino crop of maize can ho seen in tho Ngatiawa 'Valley, belonging to Mr. T. Colpman. It measures ten feet in height. The annual school picnic takes place about February 17, at Taekaknriki. It was intended to get tho schools to join in and get a special train to tako tho children for a day's outing to tho city, but the other committees around the district did iiot agree with the proposal.
Mr. T. Colpman intends to take some half-dozen purebred Ayrshircs to tho Feildin; Show, including tho bull ho got first pmo for at tho Levin Show.' A new school is to be opened shortly some five miles inland from here, and will be a boon to tho sawmill hands' children.
A cricket match is to bo played between the Tieikorangi and Paraparaumu teams 011 February 18, at I'araparaumu.
