No fewer than 2335 entries havo been received for tho Ram Fair to be held on Thursday and Friday following tho show noxt week. Lincolns and Ilomneys predominate. Tho weather experienced in the Wairarapa during tho last week or two has been everything that the farmer could; desire. Harvesting is practically concluded, and lambs havo been topped off and hurried to the freezing works. Raiu has fallen on two or three days, and this has given a start to the new season's grass. A cold snap experienced during the last day or two will have a destructive eft'eet upon aphis, which this year has seriously affected rape and turnip crops. Messrs. 0. C..C,popei;. D. Casel berg, and D. Donald, three nf'tho stewards of tho Masterton Racing Club, recently took exception to tho stakes offered by tho club for its March meeting being increased from .£IOOO to .£1125. The stewards of tho club us a body, however, approved the increase, and tho three gentlemen in question havo now tendered their resignations. At a meeting of stewards on Saturday last the resignations wero accepled, and a vote of thanks passed to tho retiring stewards for their past services to the club. Messrs. J. B. Moodie, W. lorns, and C. J. Bennett wero appointed in their stead. Tho Masterton Rifles are at present holding their annual camp on tho old showgrounds.
