At the trial,.of Doctor ,Patchenko, Count de Lassy; and Madame Muravieva, on a charge of murdering Count Bouturlin, and conspiring to murder General Bouturlin, the Count's father, also Madame Lazardi, the General's divorced wife, the evidenco against De Lassy largely consisted of a typewritten letter in French found in Dr. Patchenko's rooms, cryptically worded. ..In.the light of Dr. Patchenko's confession the letter is construed as referring to the murder of General Bouturlin. : The prosecution states that the defects "in the' writing are traceable to Do Lassy's typewriter.
